This is the beginning of what I hope will be a collection. The first couple weeks of my Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design Module 1 class was all about sketching. Before we even created a pattern, it was about the process…first thoughts, first marks. One assignment was to draw something that fascinated you. This is the African Daisy. What intrigued me most was the varied colors. They are vibrant and beautiful in real life. There are SO many possibilities that I think this will have to be a collection, but I haven’t completed the next pattern. Instead I am working on an illustration which may end up being a placement print when I am done. Currently I am playing with all the various color combos. Here’s a sneak peek, but I will show you the final when I’m done.

Do you have a subject that you just can’t let go of? I think these illustrations may be a work in progress for some time to come, but I plan on having another pattern for this collection next week, as well as rewoking some more of this color into my original design 🙂 Color makes ALL the difference!
